Another idea that’s been on my to-do list for a while, demonstrating the difference between 12 and 24 drawings per second without trying to make one look better than the other.
If you asked me three years ago I would have scoffed at the idea of preferring 2’s to 1’s in any context, but I have since taken off my gamer glasses and understood that "smoother is better" does not apply to 2D animation.
Also if you’re on desktop you can use the , and . keys to scrub through the video one frame at a time, it’s pretty fun.
New stuff I tried for this one:
– Way more focus on choreography than usual, spent several times longer on storyboarding than other projects
– Faster, snappier movements that actually justify the use of 1’s rather than forcing them between every drawing done on 2’s
– Less reference footage, more experimental motions that still somewhat obey physics and body mechanics
