Bill’s Private Animation Lesson 2025 – Class 7 CLIP

From Plymptoons.

Bill Plympton’s School of Animation continues with a private lesson for an aspiring animator, where he shares his trade secrets, inspirations, and techniques.

In this session, we get a special voice over from Owen, Plymptoon’s Producer, who guides us through the process of how he composites each of Bill’s drawings through Photoshop, After Effects, and Premier.

Class 7 is almost the end of the line on our curriculum where the lessons are now comprised less of observational learning and lean farther into hands-on experience and absorbing the knowledge through experimentation. If you have access to these programs, or similar ones, don’t be afraid to click around and learn the different functions to apply to your specific style or develop your taste of animation to create your individual technique.

As seen in the second clip, Bill directs Owen on the timing of the character after viewing the pencil test, an example of how the process of animation can be planned in advanced and still not go according to plan. You should always leave space to edit.
