One of Bill Plympton’s most recognizable shorts and characters, Guard Dog, was inspired by a simple walk in the park. This endearing icon has stolen the hearts of many all around the world, leading to a tidal wave of recognition including:

Oscar Nomination – Best Animated Short Film (Ceremony 2005)
Best in Show – ASIFA-East (2004)
Special Prize – Hiroshima International Animation Festival (2004)
Nominee Best Narrative Short – Tribeca Film Festival (2005)
Audience Award – Uppsala International Short Film Festival, Sweden (2005)

It screened before "Hair High" – Another whacky, comedic, hand-drawn feature by Bill, and then went on tour in The Animation Show.
Roughly ten years later, the short was preserved by the Academy Film Archive in 2015.
